Drive In Movie Theaters

I had my first experience on watching a movie on a really big screen under the stars a couple of weeks ago. It was different and I have had a great time. The place showed two movies for less than a price of a single movie in a regular theater. You can't beat that. Plus you get to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere at the same time. I have always wondered what it would be like being in a drive-in theater.

The place wasn't as big as what you would have seen from old movies. Just about the size of a regular parking lot. And they don't line up the cars anymore. I guess it's just common sense for everyone in there to park accordingly in order to maximize space utilization but still afford some personal comfort. They don't hand out speakers in the car windows anymore. They let you tune in from your car radio at a certain station where the dialogue would come in. Also, two large speakers were placed strategically for those who opted to bring their own chairs or laid out blankets in the grass.

There was a concession stand that served anything from popcorn, hot wings, turkey legs, hamburgers, hotdogs and non-alcoholic drinks. I am guessing that's where they get most of their revenue from. Most of the patrons brought their own refreshments though. But surprisingly, there was always a line at the concession stand.

I think I'm going back out there.
